Re: Mapping for Terminal Mix 8

Hey FigDJ, if i could i would give you mine ... but in the previous mapping for my Reloop BM2 that's not going to happen bcuz of the distance :(

I've played a bit with the TM4 mapping and see what worked on the TM8, and it's almost non :(

So i would be doing this from the ground up

When i've got the time i'll map the basics and we'll go from there, it's been a while since i played with the mappingeditor.

I hope someone else with a TM8 will be doing the effort with me en FigDJ, cuz it will speed up the process ;)

Cheers J

All I need to start is for someone to set up the controller with Cross. Then open up the MIDI learning page and map one command. Say deck A line fader. Verify that the command is in fact working. Save the file and post it here.

Hey FigDJ,

I've managed do this, the map with Channel A commands and a few other commands like cue points, mid, low, high, filter and gain. Play/pauze, cue and stutter (play cue).

Hope it's ok like this.

Working on this map. So far I mapped the entire Mixer section and the front buttons.

I am now starting on the left side top. the documentation doesn't mention the MIDI command or channel for the FX1 button, Shift + FX1 button or adjustment just above the FX1 button.

By elimination I think they are 1a and 5a HEX. however, I have no way to find out. Could someone use MIDI learn in Cross to map a couple of commands and post or PM me the file with a short explanation of what you did?

Also is not quite clear what are the command for loop size and on button. I have my deduction but need someone to verify that the Loop Size rotary encoder is also a push button.

Hey FigDJ,

Thx for all the work you've already done

The FX1 button is an on/off button, the adjustment of the FX is true the use of shift + the rotary knob.

The loop on button is to set loop on/off, the loop size (..., 1, 2, 4, 8 ..) is set true the Rotary knob. The Size Rotary knob is also a push button, i've never used it so i'll have to find out for what it is

If i've got the time 2mrrw, i'll try and map the buttons you asked at a new blanc MIDI map ;)

If someone else want to help ... go for it ;)

TM8midi commands.mappings

Hey FigDJ,

I've maped:
FX1 ON/OFF Button --> Turns the FX ON/OFF
FX1 Select --> Selects the fx you want, but the problem is when you select an effect it automaticly turns the FX1 on !!
FX1 Amount --> By turning the knob you increase/decrease the amount of the fx.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the mixer sections i've added:
CUE MIX and Crossfader ;)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the loop knob section:
I've mapped the loop ON/OFF
I don't know how to map the loop size (1/32, 1/16, 1/8, .... 8,16, 32) :(

All the loop functions in MV are for the performance mode section on the TM8 where you've got a selection knob for slice, smpl, cue and loop !!

Maped:
The loop button by tapping it to tap tempo
Confirmed tap tempo by Shift + loop selector knob turn right

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is how it works in Serato DJ:
Loop button ON --> turns the manual loop on or off

Turning the loop knob right or left selects the loop lenght (even when it's of or on) by turning it on the loop will go from the selection you've made (1/32 .... 32 beats)

Shift + loop knob adjusts "FX" beat parameter --> so the fx will go up or down by selecting the beats parameter

Shift + loop button ON taps the "FX" BPM manually

Don't know if it's clear for you, but i'm not really knowledgeable and the terms used in both software's aren't Always compatible for my understanding. But i'm doing the best i can to help ;)

OK I am past the FX section and the loop section except for small detail that I'll decide when mapping the LEDs.

I have no documentation for the JOG button or Shift + JOG button so if someone could map those using MIDI learn that will allow me to continue on to the JOG Wheels. I think this is mislabeled as VINYL switch on the documentation.

Also someone please map the pitch control, I got some documentation on that one but don't know if there a shift related command that could be mapped to that. In other word map a slider command to the pitch control and then map a different slider command using the shift in conjunction with it and see if it works. Let me know the results and what you did to map it by posting here or PM.

More questions

Could someone tell if the Hi, MID, LOW knobs are also pushbuttons. They appear to be so but just want to make sure to implement additional commands.
