Yep. Denon pretty much said, 'What's everyone else doing? Let's not do that! Let's come up with our own obscure convoluted way of doing something and then use that insanity across all our products but change just enough from unit to unit so they can't code it just once.' Programmers everywhere will thank us for guaranteeing them job security!'

Always slight changes because most of the code can be translated on the same plateform between units and not too much re-work to do:
HD2500/HC4500/DNS1200
DNSC2000/MC6000/MC3000/MC2000 ?
SC3700/SC3900

In that sucks like hell, there is a BPM readout. Just thinking, is the BPM sent from Cross to the Denon players somehow, and if it is, would it be useful for you clock output program?

There's unfortunately no standard way of sending text over MIDI...

meaning, there's some code in Cross to send text using the Denon format :)

However, if you can handle them using Max, here are the kind of lines needed in the mappings file:

Code: Select all
<mapping>
  <control alias="fam(Player)[0x1].TrackArtist" value="miditext"/>
  <miditext kind="DENONS3700_1" channel="0x1"/>
</mapping>

There are 4 kinds available:
- "DENONS3700_1" (1st line of the Denon S3700/S3900)
- "DENONS3700_2" (2nd line of the Denon S3700/S3900)
- "DENONHC4500_1" (1st line of the Denon HC4500)
- "DENONHC4500_2" (2nd line of the Denon HC4500)
You can find the MIDI messages sent in the Denon docs.

Hope this helps a bit ;)

I copied this to the Mapping Utility section! Thanks for this info!

any bpm value is better then calculate a clock from beat flash triggers :)
there is a message to get the bpm values but this is only used dor the internal interface of Cross :)
viewtopic.php?f=360&t=26154&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

and i dont want to decompile and reverse engenier the Cross application ;-)

but there are some other MIDI outs missing to make a really good syncing application.

i write a topic about this after i finish my new Studio here :) (so mutch work ...)

I'd love to see MIDI beat clock... I have Maschine and it's just begging to be used with Cross. :)

For now, any time I want to sync Maschine to a DJ application using vinyl I have to use Torq...
