Good thought for id3 but I don't think this will help 'cause he managed to change it after a few efforts.

Directly into the collection or into the info tab ?
Freshly created collection ? (because background cover parsing can be an issue to refresh collection).

Thanks for the comments guys - especially the underwear/tattoo ones - they made me laugh and I had to show this topic to my wife!

To answer a few questions though:

The problem doesn't happen when I click the info button and enter the date that way, but it's quicker usually to doouble click the field and enter it that way. (When it works!)

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

The ID3 tag versions have been causing me nightmares for years - different programs read different versions, but that doesn't appear to be the issue here as it works after a few attempts.

And no, I wasn't going commando! I had my very special Armani pants on! :lol:

Directly into the collection. The collection is one I've been using for quite a while now, and all the tracks have been fully scanned.

Ha Ha Ha! This has turned out to be one of the most randomly off topic topics ever! :lol:

Anyway, I have a little more information about the problem. The 'year' field won't let me input the same information in two consecutive tracks. For instance, if I enter 2010 into one track's tag, it simply won't let me enter the same year in the next track's tag.
