Problems running MixVibes and U-Mix Control Pro 2

Postby Olove on 26 Mar 2014, 15:50

Okay guys. You seriously owe me at least 5 hours of lifetime  .

I am running U-Mix Control Pro 2 with Mix Vibes Cross DJ (2.60 and 3.0). Everything worked fine so far, just a few problems withe the audio output every 2nd or 3rd time I use MixVibes. These problems dissappeared after restarting my system, the application or the mixer.

The problems where the following, but first let me tell you my setup:

I run a 64Bit Win 7 with a realtek Audio Card. I connect U-Mix Control Pro2 via USB port. I use chinch cables for the connection to my amplifier. I use the amp for my regular PC sound and for the mixing as well. When I switch on U-Mix Control Pro2 the PC automaticly uses the build in soundcard and sends the signal to th CD Input of my amp.
The regular PC signal is sent to another chanel. So whenever I switch on U-Mix ctrl pro2 I have to switch my amp to the CD chanel to hear sound.

That worked fine, so far, besides sometimes that I had to reboot my system to get it to work.

Today I just doesnt work anymore. Whenever I switch on the Mixer the signal is either on my regular PC output chanel of the amp or gone. The fun thing is. When i use WinMediaPlayer witch the Mixer switched on, it works. (Sound coming through the CD Chanel of the AMP)
Its just that Mixvibes either tells me my audio settings are wrong, and it cant even load a track, or the sound comes out the regular PC Sound Chanel of the amp, but I cant even preview sounds via Headpones at the Mixer.

That is really stupid and i need a solution.

Besides that, I just want to let you know, that wont keep that Mixer/Software, not even as backup, since I know now, it is far away from working simple and stable.

Greetings from germany, yours reall pi**ed olove.

Welcome to mixvibes.
To bad it does not work out yet for you. It is a little guessing despite your information, so sorry if you tried/did what I put down.

When starting Cross your soundcards should be present (i.e. on/connected).
If you 'add' a soundcard after this, the 'channels' are sorted by the OS and might end up different.
You best start Cross before using any other audio app. This is to avoid Windows does smart thing with exclusive or general access on soundcard channels.

Did you select the ASIO driver for the sc in the Audio preferences? Also selected the 2 channels and choose Dual stereo (for preview).
WHen Dual stereo is selected additional knobfaders show for cue volume and cue/master mixing.

Can only tell from experience that Cross is a good product. To bad you have the impression it is not.

These are some basics to get it to work. Please let us know if this is of any help.

And yes, Cross does not load any track when the soundcard is missing/not active or even no longer active. By this you will not experience starting your first track live while the audio setup is wrong... Still many steps between audio out and speakers out...

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

It did until yesterday...that's what's weird.

Well wich information do you need?

I turn on the PC. When PC is ready I turn on the mixer, then i start Cross...

Lets call it experience instead of impression.

No, it wasn't.

See...Cross does not load any track when i select the ASIO driver just keeps telling me to review my audio settings.
It loads tracks when i use the Realtek driver of my PC, but I cant use the dualstero for mixing then. Although the additional knobfaders show up, i get no signal on my headphones wich are connected to the 3.5 output in front of the mixer.

This brings it likely down to a driver issue. Please reinstall the ASIO driver.
In W8 I experienced a few times that my (Vestax) asio driver was not working after running MS updates.

Reinstalled the ASIO driver (uninstalled the driver, ran regcleaner, checked registry for entrys->none then restarted the PC, reinstalled the driver) same problem. Whenever i try to load a song when using the ASIO driver, Cross tells me to review my Audio settings.

Again I can play songs using the Realtek Audio Driver, but in this case I cant use cue mixing/ dualstereo.

It most likely is driver related. Someone knowing more of this will be involved.

Something to try as a workaround. Cannot guarantee as the specifics of the driver and abilities of the soundcards determine the useability. Not all soundcards provide access to the indvidual channels.
Install the ASIO4ALL driver. It is not the solution but a (normally) working way of getting multiple soundcards to work as if it is one sc.
it is for free. Use one of the buttons down right in driver (open via Cross) to enter the mode for multiple soundcards.
Cannot test if it works with these sc sombinationas I don't have access.
If possible do not just select cards but within cards the needed channels (the less opened the better).

the Beta works fine for years....

Actually it's quite disappointing to visit a companys forum to ask for help without getting any solutions after 3 days.

The only idea I have, is to format C: and setup a new OS, but that means 1 day of re-installing program after program, just to get one program run properly again...oh wait! Another option is, to send the mixer back to where i bought it, and buy a better one.

Bye and thanks for nothing!

Sorry we did not have a solution yet. It is quite unique that reinstalling audiodriver does not work and on top of that ASIO4ALL does not work either.
Reinstalling OS rarely solves any problem other than going back to Windows defaults.
Drivers and mixer are out there for a long time, so it most likely has to do with interfering settings at your PC.
I understand you might have given up. If you did not, please tell what went wrong with ASIO4ALL. If it could not even use the realtek card is close to impossible.

Do you have any other device connected to your PC (phone/table). If so, please go back to basics (keybaord, mouse, normal ext. HDD + mixer).

If you do not have it no more: good luck with your new device.
