Re: Imported playlist not in order

Postby Mike de Laat on 06 Jul 2015, 08:19

I use Rekordbox to import my playlists in the right order/order of appearance. Then I use export to XML in Rekordbox. Finally in Cross I use import from third party...I don't use iTunes because I edit the tracks with musicbrainz Picard and I think iTunes is not adding anything for DJs...Or am I missing something?
Kind regards,
DJ 2Takes/Mike.

Hi,

When I import your m3u8 example playlist, I get the playlist track numbers (column '#') to have the correct values, even if it wasn't displayed in a sorted manner at first. You need to sort using that column ('#') to display your playlist sorted the way the file describes it.
This playlist has 25 tracks, so I doubt I just got lucky. Cross imports a playlist file by reading it sequentially, from top to bottom, applying playlist track number in the same order. I don't see how it could get it wrong (nothing in the playlist file indicates another order, the only number next the EXTINF is supposed to be the track length in seconds).
That being said, the program from which the playlist was exported (i.e. beaTunes) may display the playlist in another order, the one you want, but doesn't respect that order at export.

Nonetheless, I still may be wrong. I attached a text file of the playlist, imported and exported using Cross, so you can tell me if you see any difference (mainly if your copy of Cross does not respect the playlist track numbers).

Hi TinouCas,

I will add 2 files that show the difference in order. The first one is directly imported from a m3u8 file of Beatunes, the second one is imported in Rekordbox, then exported to an XML file and then as third party database imported in Cross. Finally exported as TXT. From the 25 tracks I only have 6 tracks in the collection. So the exported file shows only six tracks. I hope you can find out what exactly is going on. I don't get it. ;-)

I am having the same issue!

My iTunes playlists are not loading into Cross with the tracks in the order they appear on the playlists in iTunes.

This worked perfectly months ago, but I have not played a gig in a while and today I started prepping for a wedding and noticed the issue. Since I haven't used Cross recently, I don't know exactly when this issue started, or why, but I suspect a new release of iTunes could be the culprit.

Mixvibes team, please treat this is an issue. We use the playlists to plan out our shows, if they are not importing in the order we design, it truly is an issue!

I need a fix quick, I noticed one of the replies in this thread said the playlists are importing properly from rekordbox. As a workaround I will download it any try it, I hope it's not a ton of work to use.

Thanks,
Chris

I thought this was fixed a while ago.

There used to be a problem with the tracks that were added by the playlist (and not yet present in Cross).
If this is the case a 'quick' workaround may be to add the playlist, next remove the playlist from the collection and add again.

Please be sure to have the sort order by the Nr column, else the track order will be different ...

Please also provide feedback on your OS, iTunes and Cross version to make it possible for the developers to take action on this. Current Cross (DJ) version is 3.3.11.

As you haven't registered your license key you likely use an older version. Once registered the downloads section (right column) will open access to the Cross downloads.

Thank you for the reply, I believe it is working now. I added the # column ands sorted on it. I was probably under the assumption that the # column was album track number instead of playlist number. I also installed rekordbox as one of the replies indicated would help. I don't think it helped me in Cross.. I'm pretty sure just adding the # column did it for me.

I am running, mac os x el capitan 10.11.6 ,purchased Cross 3.3.11 64bits, iTunes 12.5.1.21.

I looked at the downloads section and don't see what I need to download to stay current. Since I'm up and running now I don't believe it's a concern to change anything, but please point out anything that I could be missing out on, now that you know my version #.

I noticed and will be downloading the Ubuntu version! More to follow with that!

thank you!
