Play my own samples while a song is playing

Postby rickyfalco on 31 Mar 2016, 19:47

Hi everybody,
I want to add my own samples in the software and I know how to do that. But I don't know how to play them while a song is playing. For example, I would like to play an "horn" while switching from one song to another. How can I do that? In Virtual DJ was very easy.
I have a U-Mix Control Pro so I don't have some pads on the controller to load the sample and press the buttons to play them.
I hope I was clear and I wait a reply.
Thanks!!! :D :D :D

So As you know you got A and C on the left and B and D on the right.

If you set Cross for 4 channels.
Players A and B and Samplers C and D

Each one has a volume channel and all are controlled by the crossfader.
From what I understand you want to play a sample at the same time that you are doing a mix.

So the little lighted icons next to the crossfader that have C and D
click on them to turn them off.

In this mode C and D are bypassing the crossfader while A and be are still controlled by the crossfader.

So you can be mixing 2 track going from A to B at the same time that you hits the pads for the sampler.

Your basic Control pro MIDI should allow to control sampler pads
1 to 3 if using Control pro or 1 to 4 if using control pro 2.

There are also custom maps posted to access
pads 1 to 6 on the control pro and 1 to 8 on the control pro 2.

Thank you, now I set Cross for 4 channels, 2 decks and 2 samplers. But I didn't understand wat you wrote me in these lines:

"Your basic Control pro MIDI should allow to control sampler pads
1 to 3 if using Control pro or 1 to 4 if using control pro 2.

There are also custom maps posted to access
pads 1 to 6 on the control pro and 1 to 8 on the control pro 2."

Please, can you explain me better? What mean those numbers? I'm still learning and I'm not so practical  :D

Last thing I would like to do is to set a button of the keyboard of my computer to the samplers. I'll explain with an example: when I used Virtual DJ, I pressed the button "F1" to play a siren, "F2" to play an air horn, and so on... How can I do the same thing with Cross?
On my controller I don't see any button that could do that (I have attached a photo) so I was thinking to do that with the keyboard.
Hope I was clear. Thank you so much!!!

U-Mix Control Pro (type 1) has 3 pads.
UMCP2 has 4 pads.

Different mappings exist (files with the MIDI command <> Cross function mapping)

To use a key board: Preferences > Keyboard. Copy a keybaord mapping (x2 button). Select it and at the right you can set keys for a function. Select a function, press the key.. done.

 you have sample control in the U-Mix Control Pro ,, 3 buttons ,,
there are mappings to allow control of 4 thru 6 also ,,
if you hve it keyboard controlled thats fine ,,but there are MIDI control/commands for the sample pads ,
