Mac video framework in 64 bit

Postby Stormcaller on 03 Sep 2015, 16:58

What video framework is Cross using in 64 bit? I would assume it uses AV Framework as opposed to the old Quicktime system that is being superceded. It could also possibly use something like ffmpeg?

I ask this because I need to know what codecs I can use. I lack the processing power to use H264 with Cross, I can't install the HAP codec into AV Showcase because apparently only Mixvibes can implement the code, not the user owning the system, and I'd like to know what the most CPU friendly codec that works with Cross is so I can transcode my library to it.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't focus on transposing. very little chance quality gets better by it. also no straight answer for cpu optimal. depends on type of processor e.g. nr of cores and speed vs way you mix as well as memory and hdd speed. and of course the GPU.
With 4k as upcomming standard all your effort with current vids will be marginal in the near future...

be aware that after transposing you have a new collection to work on .. analyzing, prepping, updating playlists...

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).
