Re: Crackling noise

It's a bit hard to figure this out as it isn't a common issue.

It may be Cross, but also the audiodriver and maybe even some Mac (delayed) processes may be involved.

If it happens (when not live) could you try changing the buffer size of the soundcard. In theory the crackling should go when you increase significant (at the cost of responsiveness).
Other test would be to decrease. Likely causing audio playback to stop. Then reset to 'normal' value.

If the increase works, try working your way back. If you're setting is 'on the edge' it may be that only some tracks trigger it. If it is minor crackling you should be able to do a minor increase.

Please report back on your results as it may help to be able to duplicate circumstances. (and make sure to check you have the latest soundcard driver)

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

This turned out to be an issue with the American Audio VMS 4.1, which added to the other issues I had with it, ended up with me sending it back to the manufacturer for good...

Thanks for the help guys and thank you for the excellent software!

Ive had this problem before.

Mine wasnt latency though. I went into the Macs MIDI settings and turned down the volumes on my tracks. Turns out it was maxed out and causing distortion. Could be that.
