Cue distortion problems

Postby KW2912 on 07 Apr 2015, 14:46

Since upgrading to Cross 3.3.10 I've been suffering from Cue distortion problems with my Headphones output on my Mixvibes U46MKII Controller on my Macbook Air. Obviously I've tried turning down the headphones gain at the front but the problems seems to be the output itself.

I'm using Dual Stereo setup through the controller with the sound card sending output 1/2 to my external mixer and output 3/4 to my headphones. The only way to remedy the distortion is to turn down the channel volume and bass - the headphones sound great but the output to the external mixer is really quiet.

I'm also using the default Mixvibe drivers for the controller as Asio4All isn't available for Mac.

Any help, tips or assistance would be appreciated as I've tried everything.

What happens if you swap outputs in the audio settings (so master to your physical headphones).
Then change your physical headphone to the other output (if your plugs allow this).

It could also be as simple as dust or a hair in your connections. Distortion is more likely to be noticeable in lower frequencies...

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Is your cue setting in the software still set to a reasonable level (i.e. not fully clockwise)?

Thanks for the reply folks.

RoJec I've tried swapping the outputs but getting the same problem. Also tried an air duster on all the connections and outputs but still no joy.

DJ Vintage - you seem to have found a solution - I thought the software cue level worked along with the cue level knob on my U-Mix 2 Controller - alas - not so!!! When I turn the knob up or down the volume does indeed go either up or down but the software cue volume stays the same!!

Quick fix - I've set the software cue level to between 1/3 and 1/2 volume and then use the Controller cue knob to fine tune any further volume changes I require. Distortion gone. Yay!!!

Are there cue volumes supposed to work independently to each other? All the other software levels go up or down whenever changed on the U-Mix controller???

Thanks again.
