Should i upgrade my version of Cross?

Postby marney on 08 Feb 2015, 15:01

Greetings,
I am seeking some advice from you fellow Cross users out there. I am contemplating the upgrade from my current version of Cross which is 2.3.0
to the latest which is 3.3.10.

My concern is that although I am keen to use the features that have been added, I don't want to have to fix something that ain't broke. Is this wise or foolish?

As a bit of background the laptop is a late 2009 white Macbook with maxxed out ram and Snow Leopard that runs like a charm and is only used for DJing,(no internet etc). It has never crashed in close to a hundred gigs. The decks are CDJ 350's. I know it isn't the most powerful or modern computer out there but it is very reliable.

Thanks in advance,
Marney.

 well things to consider ,, you can have both versions on single computer ,, but important info is needed to understand ,you have to set up seperate collections ,for newer versiion as to difference in anyalse will corrupt the older version collectiion and make it useless to run ,wiill post a link to topic with pertaint info,

Yeah, I am so happy with it that it would be hard to use it if it wasn't just like it is now.

 might want to give particulars on how you use your version of Cross to help understand why you are thinking about the newer features in later versions , to help with considerations and opions

Good point Daniel,
For any other users who can help me with this question, i use it just for mixing with no use of the effects or samplers at this stage. I plan to get a basic MIDI controller like a Korg Nanokontrol 2 to tweak effects with but other than this it is just basic control of Cross via the CDJ's.
Up until now I have found this set up to be rock solid.
I had a very short-lived experience with Tracktor but due to it's lack of HID support for CDJ 350's I went with Cross and haven't regretted that decision once
