If sound stops occasionally on load there likely is a problem with the audio buffer, being to small. (preferences / audio tab). Various details can cause this (millisecond issues)
Of less importance, but helping, would be to have your tracks pre-analyzed.
Use of powersaving (hdd, cpu, etc) are also typical causes, as well as syncing functions.
Are you using the latest version? 3.3.9
