Imported playlist not in order

Postby funkwit on 18 Jul 2014, 09:32

I wonder if anyone can help with my issue:

I export a playlist as an M3U file.
I import the M3U file as a new playlist, but the order is incorrect and I have to manually re-order the tracks (not practical).
I've checked the M3U file and the order is correct, so it seems there's a problem when Cross imports the playlist.
The tracks are all in the same directory.

Has anyone managed a workaround to this problem?

Think I once noticed that there is something going on when using files from multiple drives. Would that be the sort order you ended up with.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

No, the tracks are on the same drive, in the same directory, and in the same folder. There doesn't seem to be any logic to the order they end up in. I'm stumped to be honest. Not really a lot of point to having playlists at all really..

Just to be sure, you are using 3.2.x of Cross?

Agree that it doen'r make sense; would only save time when using a playlist that comprises a more 'random' selection.

Would there be a link between the field 'date/time added' and the sort order.

The tracks are not newly imported (so duplicate records)? Don't mean the proces step 'import' that is shown always.

I'm using 3.2.1.

There doesn't seem to be any link/reason for the order it imports in that I can see. It does always import the playlist in the same order - just the wrong one!!

Anyhow, thanks for trying to help. This appears to be a bug which I really hope Mixvibes can fix. I'm going to be playing at a friend's party, who also has Cross DJ, and I was relying on being able to import playlists with tracks in their proper order. I'll have to make another plan...

Might not have noticed as I usually to not prep to play order...

Still it is 'good' news that the wrong order is always the same. This excludes a random problem.

Would it be possible for you to check some of the invisible fields (rightclick on column names) to see if one of these is sorted alphanumerical/time.

You could take your collection to your friend's party... Likely the team can't fix it in time for you...

Enjoy the party

None of the fields that I've checked seem to be in any particular order, nothing that matches the imported order anyway.

My workaround was to add a number at the start of each title field, in descending order, to the playlist before I exported it. Then, after I import that playlist, I sort it by the Title column. Because they're now numerical, the tracks are in the order I want them.

Thanks for trying to help me mate, I appreciate it.

Hello support,

I use Cross DJ 3.3.9 on Mac OS X 10.7.5 and have the same problem. I use Beatunes 4.0 (latest version) to create playlists but they get imported in the wrong sort order. I tried all different formats to no avail. Is this still a bug or am I missing something? Thanks for the great software!
Kind regards,
DJ 2Takes/Mike.
