How to get Video output??!!

I'm using Cross with a Macbook Pro. When I use the dvi/hdmi cable with the TV it only shows the image that's currently on my laptop screen. Can I/How do I send a separate video send to the tv and still have the Cross software displaying on the laptop?

SOLVED!

- On Macbook, in system preferences, select dispaly.
- Set the to the TV for optimization
- Uncheck Mirror Displays.
This will expand the desktop onto both screens
- Make sure one of them is set to display (Cross) and the other to TV(video output)
