Moving Collection To Another Computer

Postby djkrazykris on 12 Jun 2014, 23:31

I'm wanting to move my collection that i have been working on to my laptop so i don't have to keep on doing double duty by getting things set on the desktop and then getting things ready on my laptop - is there a way to set cues, beatgrid and all that and then move tracks to another system??

I've read about backing things up in the manual but i only says for the one computer so that you can have it in the same location. is there a work around?

Thanks

You can copy the backup and restore. The backup includes the analyses files that contain the info you're now missing. Manual copy of these is also possible.

In the startup proces of the backup you will be asked if you want to add the tracks.

In the collection the location of the each file is written. So if you use an other folder structure the files will not be found. If so, select Resolve all Missing Files from the menu. You get a pop up. Select one track. After this Cross ask if other tracks should be checked. If you click yes it will update locations of all tracks with the same new folder structure.

Be aware that a backup and restore may take some time for larger collections (though a fast zip method is used).

You may consider syncing after initial setup (not supported by Cross).

What about the stored locations (cues)? Will they be there when relocating songs or we'll have to make them from the beggining? And the playlists too, will they be there? I haven't test the new back up/restore function so in case you have test it please let me know.

Thanks a lot

You have to make sure that in preferences the folder for analysis is set to the restored location.
Don't think you should copy the mixvibes.settings file as it wait have system specific settings.

And the playlists too, will they be there? I haven't test the new back up/restore function so in case you have test it please let me know.

Playlist are part of collection file.
