how to upgrade software for free?????

I am in need of assistance. How do I upgrade my mixvibes Cross 1.2.1 to the latest version for free? Or is that even possible? I saw a link that said if you already had owned a version, the upgrade would be free. Is that true? If so, please help with instructions.
