Failed to Detect discover DJ controller

I have the Ion Discover DJ with Cross discover 1.3.2. The software installed ok and the controller is detected in windows. However, when I run the software I get the message 'Failed to Detect' - retry or Quit. Running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.
Can someone help me resolve the issue?

There are no specific tuning to do with your version of Your limited edition of CrossDJ.
The message you receive means that CrossDJ is unable to detect the controller. The controller isn't detected by your computer. It might be broken or your Usb doesn't work how it should

The first thing I'd advise is to try a different USB lead, if you have one.

A quick reinstall of the software might be needed also.
