I recently discovered that Cross is having a problem reading its own id3 data that it applies to tracks. Would someone please follow this experiment and let me know if they get the same results.
1. Open Cross
2. Navigate to your collection
3. find an unrated track and give it 5 stars in the collection (make sure your "write to tags" box is checked in preferences before you do this.
4. Highlight that track and right click and remove it from collection
5. Now in Cross go to files section and find that same track in files.
What you SHOULD see is that track in files with a 5 star rating, what you will probably see is that track sitting with a 1 star rating. (at least thats what I see every time I try it). Ive done this experiment a few different ways including deleting the track from the peak files directory and re adding it to the collection but I still get the same results. I know that Cross is writing 5 stars to the id3 tag of the track because I can open the track in another id3 tag editor (Media Monkey in this case) and media monkey will see that it has 5 stars. But for some reason when Cross is asked to find the file in files it sees 5 stars at 1. You can actually do it with any number of stars, regardless of what you enter Cross will see it as 1 star.
* this is important because if at some point in the future I decide to rearrange the way my files are organized or I have malfunction with the hard drive they are stored on, It may be necessary to re-import the collection at which point Cross will not read my ratings correctly and all my work will have been lost.
**Im posting this here because it stems from a previous problem I posted in which I thought Cross was not writing id3 tag information to the tracks, I see now that it is writing, just not reading correctly.
Thanks for your assistance!!
