CDJ3000 digital noise / interference?

Postby ShepherdKai on 21 Apr 2021, 12:52

I’ve always used vinyl/turntables combined with a&h analog mixers but recently switched to using CDJ3000’s. This is my first time using CDJ’s and I’m disappointed by the quality of the audio components... If I turn mixer gains/volumes all the way up to maximum when nothing is playing, omegle xender both CDJ’s are producing some annoying digital noise in the background. It’s very quiet and really not an issue when music is playing or volumes are set to normal levels but disappointing that such expensive players aren’t better at isolating noise from the power supply etc. If I switch to using a 2 prong unearthed power cable the noise is gone but it isn’t ground-loop related, it’s the internal electrical interference using ground and impacting the unbalanced analog audio output. Anyone else tested this and found any solutions for eliminating digital noise without the risk of using an unearthed plug?

I’m almost considering using a separate high quality dac for each player running off the digital spdif connections but it really shouldn’t be necessary at this price... Do Pioneer’s digital mixers exhibit similar digital noise/interference at max gain/volume levels?

This kind of noise may not be easy to find a root cause.
Make sure to use the same powercircuit for all connected hardware.
Have you tried using a groundloop adapter? As this a cheap and reliable solution.
have you tried shielding cables (analoque/power seperated routes).

As it audible at higher volume only you may have to include interference/trouble in the amp and speakers as well.

Also consider that the CDJ's likely provide a higher output level than tt's ever did. So it may be a limitation in the mixer for a long time that run into now.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).
