I checked some more and noticed your controller is MIDI only. No audio interface. So you can forget about that part.
If you have an USB 2 port you could try using that one. Or else test with a USB 2 hub in between. There is no advantage whatsoever in using USB 3. It is not unlikely that the controller actually is USB 1.1. ANd in some of the current OS distributions the settings USB 3 compatibility with 1.1 is disabled. (and USB can always communicate with 1.1.).
With the test of a differnt controller only shows that your PC can use MIDI. That yours work at her laptop shows your controller sends MIDI out. What's left is finding the little things that are not the same in the hardware or settings.
For DJing it is recommended to use an ASIO driver for sound. This can be downloaded from asio4all.com. By using this you will have better responisveness. When selected in Cross you can edit the asio4all. 256 can likely be set Maybe even lower. If to low you'll get audio dropouts.
