I dont think you can use those channels when they are assigned to another program...If you can, u will definitely be open to getting more latency , unless u are using 1 deck only(and use the other in/out channel for your DAW) - the fa66 still has 1 optical in and 1 out you could use...i think you can even buy an optical line to rca converter (around $40-60 US) if thats what u fancy. ;)
Cheers

Darryl Dwight wrote:Okay, thanks everyone! I have still one final question about the Edirol FA-66. If I use all inputs and outputs for timecode in Mixvibes, can I still use 2 outputs for my DAW? For example: Outputs 1 & 2 are for deck A in Mixvibes, but these specific outputs are also outputs for my DAW. Is this possible? Can I use 2 outputs for two pieces of software as long they don't run simultaneously?

Thanks,

yes. you can & you can use simultaneusly if you like
I worked this out by accident...was mixing & scratching with mixvibes on my old denon dns 3000's for about a hour...got bored
close down [I thought I had closed it down , but I just minimize it ]

open up Ableton to makes some beats with my finger trigger MIDI controllers...about another hour later.. accidentally hit the play button on my denon & there it was mixvibes & ableton together

now... I run two screens, with mixvibes on one screen & ableton on the other

If you mean simultaneously... then no.

CoreAudio on OSX does let you use the same audio device with more than one Application at a time. It's very flexible compared to ASIO in this respect, however I still would not recommend it. Cross can build up high levels of latency if you have other applications like Logic Pro open or other DAWs, and it may even crash. Try and keep things running cleanly, and run Cross with few or no applications running in the background. It's not crucial but it will improve your overall Cross experience.

at any rate you can't use an input for time code and also an instrument

regarding outputs, you could, use a stand alone VST + MixVibes, or run someother music app while mixing indeed... but i wouldn't recommend it.

I crashed Cross when launching Ableton last week (in a club  )
