post your Favorite DJ controller, and why?

good link. they make it sound like a good product, aside from noting that the components are not quite "pro" quality.

i found this article particularly useful, since i'll pretty much only be using this unit for small gigs like weddings, corporate dinners, etc. so basically, my controller choice isn't necessarily going to be very performance-minded.

performance wise, i'll most likely use it in conjunction with my existing equipment as controllers for decks additional to the TTs. meaning that all mixing duties will still be carried out by a hardware mixer, leaving the mix section of the controller able to be dedicated to secondary functions (like maybe effects control).

Be carreful, for the moment Typhoon is only suported under Mac with the Dijay program.

i think you mean Spin, Typhoon (not available yet) will be the PC version. regardless, the MIDI functionality is universal and i use a mac anyhow.

1.1 was terrible, 1.2 fixed a lot of the problems, 1.3 (by Ean) fixes everything but works best if you're going to be using it with the special Traktor mapping, as it changes around some of the parameters.

i've checked out the upgrade device, it's definitely well priced at $20.

I'm not too sure, but I know the jog wheels were fixed in 1.2. I don't see the harm in sending him an e-mail

What about the Vestax 300? I'm looking at that one for myself right now (plan to purchase in 3 months or less).

I'm mainly concerned about compatibility with MixVibes (all the buttons work), will I need an external sound card for mixing on net radio and is there any way to not waste my money getting the bundled software with it.

My Hercules MK2 was a great start but now I'm getting pissed at it because it's starting to have issues with it after 2 years but for a $120 it was a great investment to start with.

I used to use the RMX with VirtualDJ and enjoyed it.

I recently brought the VCI300. It's a very good controller and I love the touch sensitive jogs on the unit. I still have to use it with VirtualDJ but I only use it for small parties.

At the club I use timecodes that's why I brought MV Cross

I'm hoping soon that the Cross Dev team will eventually add the 2 above controllers to Cross MIDI list. Then I can use Cross full time

I don't think I have good enough manual dexterity for time coded vinyl yet. I want to pick it up at a later time because I really want to learn how to scratch and jog wheels don't work well.

Nothing is better than a real turntable. It's much easier to move an LP on the turntable than a knob.
