daniel clark wrote::cool:  you might have two issues kinda mixed up .the sound card is what set up the monitoring aspect of the Cross program, to use it ,you should have a muliti channel sound card,no info given if that critiea is met,not shure of the proper routing(?? why set it in mixer mode,is the CONTROLLER seen as a mixer or just a external control)dont have acces to the controler dont know what instruction given for set up,,,

I just got a Creative X-Fi 5.1 sound card. In ASIO4ALL I have two devices listed, SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC and SB x-Fi Surround 5.1. Both are Active. In Cross DJ, I went to Preferences-->Audio and tried playing around with different output options and routing method..no luck.

hi ray-choose 1 sound card(maybe the creative), and deactivate/dissable the PC on-board sound in your boot up bois settings or control panel/device settings manager. You only want one sound card going at a time. ;)
Cheers

  Hey Ray  all the info for setting up the creative sound card is in the post for asio4all and this thread ,, fianialy figured it out and using creative S B x-fi platium,, on Cross demo,, this info helped others set up monitoring aspect for ion/ Cross DDJ   can be done  :!: :!: do not understand why you are using mixer mode unless you are routing the sound output to a external mixer,,you should be using the internal mixer that is in the software ,, with the ion CONTROLER ,controling the actions of the soft ware ,

 I will return the Discover DJ to the store tomorrow.

In order to get the headphones working (I spent many hours reading and trying) I will have to take my computer out of the cabinet to swap the the speaker output in the rear panel and the headphones in the front. This is the only way that I can get it to work.

I would not mind if I could leave it like this, but when we need sound from any other program, the speakers will have to be plugged in in the rear panel again.

I will buy something more professional that really works when I saved for it.

For all those that have succeeded.... MIx´m up and have fun

Sorry, but your quote seems confusing
*maybe your problem might be to do with your sound port outputs in the front panel of your desktop box are wired in 'reverse' from the motherboard.
*Did you try changing the software settings to direct the outputs to the opposite channels?
Unfortunately with 99% of DJ software, you do need a soundcard device with at least 2 channels(1L2R, 3L4R). One pair of channels to monitor(headphones), and one pair for the 'house' mix...just the way it is for stereo sound, and digital computer DJ software ;)

Why don't you simply inverted the outputs in the aduio preference of Cross (right column) ?
Set software outputs 1 to rear and software outputs 2 to front (or whatever work for you).

I'm sorry but any pro application work like that, it's called audio routing.

I had trouble with this too and finally got it working. Here is what I did:

1. Install ASIO4ALL
viewtopic.php?f=207&t=12058

2. Configure it to use one sound card that has more than 2 channels. Such as a 2 channels front, 2 channels back.

3. Open Preferences in Discover DJ. Click the Audio tab.

4. From the the sound card menu change to ASIO4ALL v2
These settings are dependent on your sound card abilities.

Left Input: The sound card configured in ASIO4ALL
Right Input: None

Output 1: HD Audio output 1/2
Output 2: HD Audio output 3/4
Output 3: HD Audio output 5/6

Routing Mode: Dual Stereo*
*if you notice Output1 connects to your Master out, and Output 2 connects to the CUE (your headphones).
Then play around with your headphones until you find the jack thats pointing at Output 2.

If you didn't know already, select the headphone icon (monitor) from the application for the side that is in cue (A or B).

That should be it.
