not that I can remember of, only the left one had a bad signal problem. Will confirm tonight since I'll have time to switch cables. abitmessie wrote:has the possible faulty cable been repaired replaced as posted earlier?
will be able to tell later. abitmessie wrote:Has the PC been optimized for audio applications?
no, it's been simply optimized. got rid of useless services and created a new user account who can barely do anything else than using Cross. I'm going to look for these optimizations on the forum... @abitmessie: were you refering to these 2 guides? Vista: http://www.audioforums.com/windows-vist ... zation.phpXP: http://www.audioforums.com/windows-xp-optimization.php

ok so last night I found out that the bad signal problem didn't come from the cable but from the needle. luckily I had a spare one and I got 99% for both decks. I was quite happy with that.
Also I didn't experience the clicking noise anymore having set my latency to 128 samples last night. I heard a few clicks but I believe it's because I was playing tracks that were not analyzed. I'll keep an eye on this one but so far it seems like my problems are gone so thank you guys for the input.
When I have time I might look further into optimizing that stupid laptop of mine to see if I can reach and use an even better latency. But like we say, better is sometimes the enemy of good...

hey there well I still had crackling sounds at 128 samples yesterday so I'm wondering if my config might be a bit short.
the chip is a Core2Duo @ 1.8Ghz and it's running Vista Home Premium with 2Go of Ram. I bought that lappy 2 years ago now. Is it just possible that it is a bad config (meaning too low spec) for Cross?
In another thread I'm questioning the availability of DVS because of that. Maybe I'll get better results with DVS. Please share your thoughts. This or I'm going to try trading this laptop for a MBP but i don't really have any $ to add on my side

I love talking to myself. At least it bumps that thread that nobody wants. So now that I know that DVS isn't an option anymore, I guess my last resort is to install XP on a new partition and see how it goes.

last update...
I disabled the graphic card (nvidia 8400m gt), the smart media reader, firewire, ethernet, wireless adapter and I could use it at 3ms without problems last night. at least I didn't hear anything.
Problem now is that Cross is asking me for the serial each time I run it ;(
I'll tell you how it goes but I'm pretty happy. (I thought I should share of my long complaining posts :P)
