to be honest at this kind of price all the headphones are very similar... build quality, frequency responce ... etc etc ....

it really comes down to how do they feel on your head ... if they do breakdown then how quick can i get them repaired is there a service centre near to me ...and most importantly ... how do they sound

there are so many options... so if you can try before you buy...

as a DJ i would recommend headphones to:

1. be closed back - this cuts out a high percentage of the surrounding sounds allowing you to concentrate on the music in your cans

2. have swivel cups - this will allow you to 'flick' either cup on or off easily

3. have large drivers ...this helps reporoduce the lower end better i the can ... i find its makes a big difference when mixing/beatmatching

4. have both 3.5mm and 1/4" jacks - the AT headphones have so every mixer is covered ... and the adaptor is a screw type so it wont get lost easily

i am a bit lucky as audio technica have their offices based in leeds so i can goto the supplier directly rather than the dealer first... i have always found it a great help to try and find out who are the tech support/repairs department are and make friends with them ... its amazing how much time can be saved this way for the price of a coffee ..

yes the Sennheiser are modular so each individual part can be user replaced and the plastics used are immensely good quality ... but do all dealers have the spare parts in stock?
intel quad core 2.2/4gb ram/80gb system drive/360gb music drive, m audio 1010lt internal sound card, technics sl1210 mk5 g/ortofon scratch carts, Vestax pmc50 4channel mixer (about 10yrs old but still like gold)

... i didnt want you to think i was anti-sennhiser ... just trying to explain to people the possible things to look out for when purchasing anything ... and yes the hd25's are an excellent set of cans ...

the spare parts thing applies to all items you buy ... they are all mecanical and will fail at some point or other ... all i was suggesting was to be as prepared as possible

Thats a fair point but i've beaten the hell out of mine for the last year and they're still like new

Lovely Headphones and you can abuse them quite a lot apparently

I also found the bag very helpful for not abusing them too much but i've lost that now :(
