I can see no mention o headphone s ettings on Cross.
Mixer is set to dual stereo
output 1: ssx2 master output
output : ssx phones

If you are using Cross 2.X or 3.X there is a cue mix knob on the top bar. That should work in conjunction with the knob on the controller which is hardware controlled. I can replicate in my set up because I don't own the controller and my DDJ-SZ2 work on external mixer mode with Cross.

If you are using Cross 4.X the map may not be compatible.

my suggestion is to use the MIDI Learn in Cross to map Cue Mix command to the Knob on the controller.
If you get it to work let me know, because that particular knob was not listed in any of the documentation provided by Pioneer. So I couldn't map it without physically having the controller.

resolved the issue. you were right about the mix button on Cross. its just not linked to the ssx2 as the knob doesnt seem to transmit MIDI. thank you for your help

It makes sense because I think I the SX2 the output section of the mixer ( the cue an master) are hardware controlled.
