RemixVideo - need instructions

Postby Biomekkanik on 06 May 2019, 20:52

I'll make my question short:
Where should I put my own images and videos ?
What format would be the best for images and videos in order for remixvideo to have to convert as little as possible?

Reason for my questions is that:
Simply dragging and dropping files from wherever on my HD onto the grid does not always work.
Sometimes they just wont play.
Sometimes it they work after I've restarted Remixvideo.

I read in:
viewtopic.php?f=358&t=38283&p=214762&hilit=save+in+movies#p214762
- that I must save it under win standard folder "Videos".

I noticed that all my imported (working) files are copied in the
/Mixvibes/Samples/Artworks foldes , and are given a new name
files that didn't play - aren't there.
Is Remixvideo "formatting" my pics and movies ? And these new files are the ones that are being used.
- ie I could actually just erase the originals cause Remixvideo made
its own native copies ?

All this is really no problem I just need to understand how it works

Otherwize - great software :)

Hi again,

Just wanted to comment here to clarify a few things.

Remixvideo should be able to support most video and image formats but obviously as you have noticed there can be some bugs (sometimes it can be quite perplexing since the same format will work fine with a different file)

According to the team there is no real best format, but I typically use Handbrake (free video encoding software) on all of my videos and usually don't run into any issues. I say usually because there was one case where a specific video would not load in its original format, so then I converted to mp4 using Handbrake, and it still would not play, when other videos encoded the same would.

I do know that when you drag and drop a clip or image into Remixvideo it does create its own native copies, so you could delete the originals after importing. This keeps all of the files organized by the pack they are in, which can be useful when browsing after all samples have been loaded and you are making a new custom pack.

I did notice another thing regarding format. Some picture formats trigger a bit "sluggish" . If I change pics to 960x720 , a value I got from looking at the default Samplepack , they now trigger faster when hitting the keys.
..gonna do the same check with the movies in the default samplepack.
