Long time whispering ... frankly I sold my MCX8000 in December because it wasn't supported by Cross. So I still play out with Cross and my "golden" DDJ-SX.
Tomorrow I am going to see the Prime 4 live, hands-on session at the Dance Fair in Utrecht. If it is anything like I expect it to be (Prime series power in a controller form factor), I am gonna buy me one of those and the only reason left to have a laptop is for collection management and gig preparation.
10" iPad quality touch screen, full multicore processor on board. 4 USB-ports (which CAN accommodate a keyboard if you like), a 2.5" SATA bay to slid in your HD or SSD, ports to connect with lighting software.
Really, with all that, who needs a laptop with DJ software anymore.
I have absolutely loved DJ-ing with Cross, I never could make the transition to Serato (tried, but just couldn't get the "vibe") and I am no RekordBox fan. With this all-in-the-box solution I will -reluctantly- give up Cross and move over to the Prime platform.
It's been a good ride, but lack of timely release of drivers for new controllers, years of no noticable development and only longrunning rumors of something in the making.
My fear, as I love the company and it's product, is that -unless it's a game-changing new development,- a new version might just come too late for anyone other than current Cross users willing to upgrade.
My three cents as usual.
