So, you're saying that Android DJ-Mixer's can't work w/ controllers having no MIDI support? Is this due to the controller itself having a built-in "soundcard"?

I have the Pioneer DDJ-SB2 and spent $5 on the android app that doesn't even support it without giving me clear view that my controller isn't compatible. Settings -> Tutorials doesn't even work it's no where to be found (for that matter) :frown: .

I mean a year later since the post the last update was that it may just be in the works, but still up to this day it's no where to be heard of.

Is Cross DJ compatible w/ Pioneer DDJ-SB2 controller/mixer? No, apparently.

An update saying so would definitely help and ease the situation out and what's worse is that the FAQ's are just filled with captain obvious content and this is just too frustrating!

With current Android versions MIDI and external soundcard can be used for almost all controllers.
Older versions don't for the reason that Android didn't support it. So for some controllers a MIDI protocol was developed.

This info is available in several info channels.

However the tutorial not working is pretty strange. Do you mean the one via settings menu?

Pioneer DDJ-SB2
Oneplus 3T

trying to use the above w/ CrossDJ, not working. It's hooked-up via the controller's USB cable to my phone's flagship OTG cable.

I really like it's interface and i'm only looking for the basic eq, fade, volume functions at the very most.

It hurt me to find out that my new phone doesn't work for the purpose of having MIDI controls to cooperate with Cross DJ using my mixer. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried using a powered USB hub?
Also not really clear if your controller is recognized at all.

For the most part I know it's being powered but now the question is - is there such thing as not being powered enough or properly?

When I plug my mixer to my phone with the use of OTG cable I get lights just not any indication of connectivity.

So, when my mixer lights are turned On does that mean it's being properly powered? Also, what's an example of powered USB hub?

A powered hub has its own power supply.

It's not easy to determine if a device receives sufficient power.

However with your setup you would need one. The controller will drain your battery quickly, so you would need to charge it. And you wouldn't want to have to disconnect your controller to charge your battery.

Would that have anything to do with my mixer not being detected from Cross DJ? I mean, the lights do turn on when I hook it up to my phone.

MIDI is supported for Android M and later. The SB has a default mapping. For the SB2 you will have to define it yourself.

It's not possible to determine the power by the LEDs. If you want to use this setup for DJing (with any app) you would need a powered USB hub. Costs you like $/€ 10-15 (more if you like...).

Just to be sure: you do have the Cross DJ Pro app and not the Free as the latter doesn't provide MIDI support?
