Album Art glitch and lost playlists upon factory reset

Postby Definite Jiving on 25 May 2016, 20:23

Due to overheating issues I performed a factory reset and OS upgrade to Lollipop on my Samsung Note 3. Since then, all of my many playlists have completely dissapeared, and album art on many tracks is displayed as photos in my camera folders rather than the album art that actually goes with the track.

Playlists: How can I retrieve playlists? Barring that, how can I assure that I won't lose playlists again — what backup procedures can be performed to preserve or retrieve Cross DJ playlists?

Album Art: In library views, many tracks now have random images from my personal phone camera photographs in the album art spots. However, when I select the tracks, the correct album art images show up on the virtual turntables. How can I get Cross DJ to recognize the proper album art?

Cross uses the Android Mediabase for the track and playlist info.

With a factory reset this likely is erased and rebuild when you add the tracks again.

You could try using a playlist management app to see if you can find one that backups using the filelocation (and not the mediabase reference to a track)

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Thank you. Can you recommend a playlist management app? What would I do with it?

And what about the album art issue? My music files are on a separate SD card, so the files remain the same; only now some (a small percentage) of the album art images are replaced, but only in library views, not on the virtual turntables.

Don't know which app can do the playlist job.

The files at the SD may be the same, but for the mediabase these are considered new after a reset (assuming the mediabase is renewed with a factory reset). The mediabase doesn't use the file location as identifier.

To verify if the album art is a Cross problem or a mediabase problem you would have to check with one or more different apps to see what happens. If I'm right the turntables show the image that is tagged in the file. whereas the library shows an icon that is captured from the file by the mediabase 'engine'.

Maybe there is some app that can verify the mediatags. never had this so never looked for it.
Please be aware that dismounting the SD while your device is on will result in the tracks being removed from the mediabase. Once mounted it will be re-added as new tracks.
