Song speed issue

Postby MusicMix on 26 Mar 2016, 00:20

I am setting up a new back-up laptop and am trying out the free version first, 3.2.2. I have looked through the board and was not able to identify the solution to this problem. I load a song into either deck and the song plays too fast. I can play music through Windows Media Player and the speed is fine, so the issue is not the sound card. It is probably something really simple but I can not figure it out.

 o kay ,,couple things to check ,, pitch faders a 0 or center ,,
 are song anylised,,
are you syncing to another deck that the pitch is higher than the song being played ,,
set the deck as being master ,, should be hightlighted when useing that deck ,,
got to be some thing simple ,, play around with controls ,,

Thanks Daniel, this was one post I did read earlier but unfortunately it was none of those issues. If I move the pitch slider up, the song speed becomes more normal. I tried upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 but the problem was still there.

I played around with it yesterday. I found if I set it to MT, 100% and move the slider to -6%, the song sounds normal. I also use this on my main computer (upgraded paid version) and these settings do not seem to matter where they are. There is obviously is some little thing I have missed. I am going to get the upgrade once I figure this out to make sure it is going to work.

There aren't much options for Cross to influence speed. Only the pitch fader and the pitch bend buttons.

If you have sync options enabled a track can get the bpm speed of the other track. This is visualised by a non 0 pitch value.

The 100pct is the pitch range for the fader.

The MT and other values determine how the key is handled when pitch changes

Sound card is not involved in this at all. It can't speed up

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

I have had to adjust the latency previously to get things to work on an older computer. Hence the referel to the sound card. I know it sounds weird but I originally ripped a cd in using Windows Media Player and had the format "Windows Media Audio Pro" selected. I then ripped another cd using just "Windows Media Audio" and it works now without any adjustments. Now, I have been updating a few other things as this was all a fresh install. I am glad it is working because I really like Cross DJ. :D

P.S. Thank you Daniel and RoJeC for the help. I truly do appreciate it.

three ,, the manual has good info on basic set up and functions ,,
read it
four ,,, welcome to mixvibes and the fourm ,,

oh yeah if havent purched a licenced version ,,spend the extra monie for Cross ,, more features and allows for expanding you DJ set up later .

Please follow Daniel's suggestions.

Given your soundcard problems it may be that you're not using an ASIO sound card driver yet. Please set this up as WDM drivers aren't to suitable for DJing.

WMA isn't really a common rip method (nor using WMP as it is end of life; no longer present in W10). WMA takes quite some disk space.
Ogg, AAC, MP3, FLAC are more common file type.
For normal DJing rip at 44100Hz. Quality 320kbs (or higher). You can always downgrade quality later. Upgrading isn't possible.
