MIDI Learn or external app to configure midi-mappings?

Postby Taxicletter on 08 Feb 2015, 15:14

I have a small, old and cheap MIDI controller (M-Audio X-Session Pro).
Since I don't guess you would make a key mapping for that device, I wondered if it wouldn't be possible to add a midi-learn function (as in Traktor and other applications).

Or maybe there is or could be an external midi-mapping app for Mixvibes Cross DJ?

Cross has build in MIDI mapping.
Preferences then MIDI tab.

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

I can't find this option to learn MIDI in the Android Cross DJ app. Could you please elaborate further?

Thanks,

Thanks for your quick reply. Would you know if or when this feature would be added to the Android app please?

I use a Samsung Note 4 and have no audio lag thankfully. I believe Samsung included a pro audio kernel driver for my phone to reduce audio lag.

Adding MIDI map functionality would be perfect. I develop Android applications myself and realize testing can be a pain. Maybe consider adding it in slowly say just allowing buttons to be mapped, then add jog wheels, knobs last etc..

My rationale is that with with buttons and jog wheel mapped via MIDI a user could use the external mixer functionality to control the hi/mid/low/fader.

Just a thought.

Cheers,

Steve

It's not so much an issue of which control first as the MIDI protocol isn't really different only more signals send.
Main issue seems that MIDI isn't integrated in android as in win.Mac OS.

I'm not a developer but from what I understand it currently requires effort to integrate parallel processing in sequential environment.... Making it more complicated then just having some tables with MIDI commands per controller.

Could you ask the developers to reconsider. This open source github project works fine for me. All my MIDI devices work correctly using the sample app. https://github.com/kshoji/USB-MIDI-Driver

The code is all there I'm not sure what more you need?

MIDI in Android use the same language as in Mac PC.
Today there is no external way to add a file, that might change in a near future.

Let me clarify, I mean MIDI protocol over USB.

MIDI is merely over usb nowadays. Definitely for smart devices. Latter usually called OTG connection.

So not to sure what you want to clarify. ..
