Global Search: Collection / File Browser

Any chance we can get file browser enhanced? The collection view is all good if you have a few tracks but when you have 20,000 songs, some without proper tagging, its hell when trying to find the right one.

On my computer I have

Music>Singles>

Drum N Bass>*LABEL*
House>*LABEL*
Hardcore>*LABEL* etc

When in collection view, its just one massive mess of files with no structure and makes it hard to find what i want to play. If I use the files browser, it takes time to update the folder each time i click on one. Once its updated, there is no way to refresh it again without restarting Cross.

The ONE thing VDJ does right is have the folders view work with global search as currently you can only search each folder specifically.

In summation, what I would like is to go to files>music>singles>house and be able to search all of the subfolders within this folder.

Is this something you could integrate?

Make location field a search field in search function.
Make location field visible in collection.

type in search: \house\
and your collection will only show tracks in this folder. Split second...

If you sort on the location field it is identical to file structure.

Working on your tags now as you only have 20k tracks is really recommended. Not just for using with Cross but with also with other programs. Where possible the tags are also modified in the file tags by Cross.

For batch data (like album and artist) you can select multiple tracks and use the Info node.

If you create smartlists on genre you can even have multiple genres on a track so you won't be limited to a single folder to search a track.

And if you click the refresh button on top of the files tree you won't have to close Cross after updates were made.

Wow! I wasnt aware of that feature. Thats great thanks! Would putting \house\*.* include all subfolders within house too?

If so, thats great.

Don't need the *.* as the folder is part of the string value of the sub folders.

If you have such a selection you can instantly select all tracks. Right click and add to new playlist. If you do this as prep for a gig you're current in half a minute.

Next if you drag the playlist name to the node dock at the left you have your list at hand with a large button. ..
