Mixvibes iOS / Android applications for iPhone and iPad: CrossDJ / CrossDJ Remote
by Klaus Koop on 01 Jul 2014, 10:53
Hey folks,
Cross DJ takes about 15 Minutes to start when the app was closed on my iPad 3rd Gen and it takes literally ages (close to an hour) after the restart of my iPad.
I have almost 4 GB free space on my iPad and it is running on 7.1.1, no Jailbreak. iTunes Match is turned on but only local music is displayed.
Does anybody experience similar issues?
Best regards
Klaus

Hi,
It's a known issue, an update (1.8.1) has been submitted to Apple to fix this and some other problems. So it should be available soon!

Hi guys,
the update didn't change much. It now takes 11 minutes to launch the app. Before the update the app started almost instantly.
Best regards

The only reason why it would take so long is because you have a very huge library, and you did some changes into it (turning on/off iTunes Match, importing new songs, ...).
How many playlists do you have? Do they contain a lot of tracks?

Yep, that's it. Switched off iTunes Match with only 76 tracks on my device and the app works like a charm, but that's not really the point for a DJ app, right? My cloud has a little over 14k songs and I have 7 playlists, the largest being the icloud and the bought iTunes playlist.
So what is your suggestion? Turn off match and icloud and use the iPad with local songs only? Before the last update the app worked really fine with the exact same music setup - same playlists, same number of songs - now the app is close to unusuable.
Best regards

Yeah,
That's because in the last version, on iPad, we totally ignored Cloud songs, not on iPhone. Now they're not ignored, you've the ability to hide / show them.
14k songs is a very huge database, we will do some tests and try to get better result with big DB.
But yes, for the moment, the best is to turn iTunes Match off. Anyway, even someone has 14k songs locally (which is about the max on a 64 GB device), we must handle it correctly.

Hm,
why don't you simply switch off iCloud again? I found it convenient to load the playlist before using it in the app. That way I was completely sure that I could play/mix the songs even if I had no internet connection at all. Now I have to switch on iCloud in order to load my iPad with misic, switch it off, reboot and then start the app - and pray that I didn't forget a song. Because than I have to do the whole thing again. In the old version, I just had to go back to the standard Apple player and load the song from the cloud, job done!
Best regards

In next version we won't handle iCloud anymore so it will be as before.

Great on one side, but your reaction is as if I just rained on your parade. Don't get me wrong, your app really rocks and I love to use it!

No don't worry! Just answered rapidly, lot of things to do We agree, it's better to not display iCloud songs (so we won't add them in the database) as you cannot play them. 1.8.2 should be available in the beginning of next week.
