Nsted Playlists

Don't know if others would use this but I would love to see nested playlists. Lets say you have a Top Level playlist, you could then have nested playlists coming off the top level one as needed, say - Top 40, then you could nest down by month, year etc. I think it would jus save ''real estate'' instead of creating a long list of playlists

What you describe can be done with the collection tooling. Will be way more efficient and reliable. Instead of creating playlist you use the fields of Cross collection.
Using smartlists you can easily create the 'top level playlist' e.g. by Top40. Using the columnbrowser and the search and sort function you'll find the right track faster than when using playlists.

You will still be using playlists, but it would not have to be that you have use them to organize your music. With smartlists new tracks are easily organized just by putting the right info to any of the trackfields you use.

Hi RoJeC

I'm still learning and found another way (although I am getting used to smartlists and find it a great tool) - Create a folder under playlists and then drag your playlists that you want into that playlist folder... Just keeps a little structure for my most played stuff and is exactly what I was looking for. :)

Would be nice if you could perform a search on that top level folder in playlist though....

Did you notice that you can drag folders and/or playlist to the nodedock at the left. Gives instant access for your select playlist(/folder).

If you create less detailed playlist together with the column browser, the search function becomes really powerful...

I work from 1 video and 1 audio smartlist. Both containing my 'top4+5 rating'. The audio is like 3k tracks. Some times I dump it in a playlist for gig to take out some 'parts'. Further just use the sort, select and search. What I feel nice is that I come across songs that I hadn't thought of for a while; maybe not for the same gig, but still.
