Cleaning your equipment

Postby Smarter on 06 May 2013, 19:58

Hellooo!

Well my crossfader just went mad (if i touch it even a little bit, it goes to left...) and i though i should clean my U-Mix Control Pro but when i had taken 3 screws off i wondered if there is better way to clean or maintenance DJ equipment? and is it possible that if i send it to reseller i get new or they will fix the problem?

soo tips to clean and answer for the crossfader appreciated :3

The best advice I can give is to use some Deoxit D5 or F5 on a semi-regular basis if you're using conductive crossfaders. If you're a scratch guy doing long sessions, every couple of days or even every session may be appropriate, but if your equipment is covered and used rather gingerly, every quarter or semi-annually may be enough.

And don't use standard oils as it tends to attract dust.

I've been using this stuff for years and it's kept my equipment from having issues with the linear faders (channel, Cross, pitch faders). If your equipment sits out, I suggest getting a dishtowel to cover it up so dust and dirt doesn't settle into the fader channels or use a cover of some kind. It makes all the difference in the world.

Preventative maintenance is inexpensive and doesn't take much time - but repairs can take a significant amount of time and carry a much higher price tag.
