collection data maintenance

Given that a lot of datatags that are imported is inconsistent, contains double space, inconsistent with capitalization, artist names written different, track numbers in title, artist name in title, etc.
Given that from different sources a collection grows with similar tracks.
And some more of those time consuming manual maintenance issues...
Would it be nice if some feature is embedded (or external) that helps cleaning up the data and making live easier by selecting 'best' tracks for duplicates.
In multilingual it might be difficult, some more generic might work, like left space, double space, per word capital..
And for duplicates some logic to determine matches based on title and artist despite different codecs and varying length.
Let alone selecting priority for 'best track' based on quality and disk\folder location.

based on experience : this will be more complex than adding a keyboard/MIDI shortcut....

If you do many stuff automatically then your are a robot, not a DJ.

Besides.... use playlist... Collection can have duplicates, but just make playlist manually, without duplicates, and it is very organised.

My proposal does not replace the need to work with playlists. The idea is to be able to occasionally assist the maintenance of the collection. It would replace editing information for the soul purpose of being able to find similar tracks in a sorted way in stead of 'by accident' because of spell differences.

Nothing robotic to me in here, but more time to DJ instead of working on editing.

All what you're asking for is handled by specific softwares like : tagger and audioprinter.

You can't beat them, they're the true ones when it come to those very specific task.
On a side note, adding these to your DJ software will turn it into a very big (weak ?) multi-tasking thing.
