I'm very curious to hear what you guys think about Karaoke. I get asked to do it it so often, and sometimes I really love the experience, but there are times when it can be a huge pain in the ass! Sometimes I'm in the middle of a really great set, and someone comes along and wants to break it up by singing a slow, depressing song that ruins the atmosphere... it drives me crazy! On my own gigs I can allocate karaoke sessions, but at the regular venues I do it's karaoke that's more important and everything stops for the singers... arrghhh!

Hey, I had this last year at a christmas party from a big company. The party was on its highest level most of the members of the company was dancing and enjoying the party and then a person asked if he could sing a song. I asked him which and he said: "O sole Mio". I was surpriesed and said no. After a few minutes he comes again and asked again (had drunken too much but at this point I know that it was the boss of the company so let him sing ). Ok we stopped music and he sungs. After that everyone gives applause and I said: "Thanks for the nice song and let us rock again " and played to that time the favorit song "Welcome to st Tropez" and everybody was dancing again. So this was my first contact with karaoke or singing at a live gig . I had a few times ago that some girls want the microphone and sing to their music (played the normal songs and at a lower level but still hearable) but this is not karaoke vor me . regards Christian

I do a regular Karaoke night on Tuesdays, and whilst it is really easy work, I do get a little bored with it. I turn up, create a playlist for background music and then wait for the people to arrive. Then it's the same group of people that arrive - about 40 people who I know by name, and sometimes a few others, but not always. Then comes the fun part - most of the regular group sing the same songs every week! And usually in the same order! I've tried to change it by doing themes nights - for instance a 60's night when everyone has to sings songs from that era, but it didn't work. The only thing I get to change is the backing music - one of these nights I'm going to take my own laptop and do a full house and dance set to liven them all up!

Well, I hate karaoke. The guy, who asked me to take the party told me, that he doesn'T need, me because I can't do karaoke, and the resident guy will take the whole night... So well yeah... karaoke... Pfffff BTW if I sing full throat on a karaoke event, it becomes a talent show

I'll have get you to one of my karaoke nights - you'd probably be better than most of the singers I get!
