The ram memory should be good enough to run the program, after am not sure if the video card will be strong enough, you need to have a very good video card!

Vfx isn't made for the power of a notebook but for the power of a strong laptop.
Vfx hate Intel graphic.
My answer is no!

Hi giuys,

didnt wanna open an new thread, as my question is quite similar.

Would you go for an i3 or an i5?
both first generation so no sandy-bridge architecture,
It´s not much price difference, i´m just a little concerned with the dynamic cpu-rate of the i5.

Laptop would be a HP G62-b35SG maxed to 8G Ram, and probably an ssd instead of the cd-drive.

Have in mind that all iX-processors are build on the same wafer! The wafer is "build" with photolithographic techniques and masks. Due to this the i7 are placed in the middle of the wafer, where the masks can be adjusted very well. The i5 are in a ring around the middle and the i3 are in the outer ring. So as in Intel's spec papers you can see that the quality and the speed of the cpus are increasing when you move to the middle of the wafer.
So my choice is and would be an i5 ;)

Cheers,

Steve

With an i7 on my PC/Laptop Vfx works. In my Macbook pro i have an i5 and it also works flawlessly.

But you really need a good GFX Card. I can tell you that i was surprised that Vfx runs on my new macbook pro flawless without any problems (with the internal gfx card).
BUT: I couldnt try it with hd-videos in combination with *.mkv but will try it when the next beta arrives.
Another thing: I have the biggest i5 and 8GB RAM. Just FYI

Kind regards
