Youtube integration

Postby Glenn Gosse on 25 Jul 2014, 11:08

Hey DJ friends,

I already bought the Cross DJ app for android a while ago, and last week I first tried it on my (old) mixer. It's running really smoothly! (Asus MemoPad 10)

The soundcloud integration is really cool!
But do you think there will be a youtube integration as well in the future? only music ofcourse!
This would be super awesome I think!

Hi Glenn, Welcome to MixVibes.

The devteam will decide but i would give it a chance to have this in future. You do have to be aware that soundcloud has good quality sound, and youtube is 'just' good when listening via a smartphone or headset. Performing via a professional soundsystem may reveal pretty much that some of the orginal sound is missing; typical low and high frequencies and part of the harmonics.

Well I've tried +/- 20 different songs from soundcloud and also there the quality is not always as it should be. There are also songs that are not complete: teasers (logical), or due to copyright.
My intention is not to use youtubesongs for professional use on parties with big PA's. But it would be really nice if people have a request (for example at a private birthdayparty) and you don't have that particular song.

Maybe it would be even better to integrate Spotify for example, since their quality is very good and the same for all songs :)

I just did a little test and recorded a set of an hour and really, all credits to the developpers of the app, because it is already a TOP app.
Really smoothly! There are some bugs, but I'm sure the developpers will solve them in the future :) but so far, congrats guys!

Likely more connections will come available in time.

Be aware that last minute specials take a (relative) lot of time and are very good for ruining your gig from that moment onwards. Just like people bringing in their own CD that doesn't play or is at minimum Quality, USB sticks with virus or just not readable, everybody wanting to ask every exotic song (which they don't know exactly what it was).

Sometime you have no choice, but if you (I do) can just say 'Sorry don't have' you likely have a better evening as you stay in control of what you play and don't risk technical trouble.

If you can prepare it than do so; but than you know if and when the track fits and is of good use.

But this is just my experience projected on new technology; with the same originating problem: there is always a song you don't have, can't find, or is of a special album/event...
