I realize their might be issues while performing live... but when not being in that situation it would be convenient if I could use the Cross app as audio player e.g. to listen to prepared set while doing something else.

Unless I missed something Cross now just continues playing when a call comes in (gsm or voip-tablet). The phone-app is on top at that moment....

Would there be a way to have Cross app silence automatic.
I am thinking of a setting that has to be selected after every start of the app so default startup is to continue play; having the crowd enjoying the incoming call

You want the music to continue while your are speaking with someone on your phone? Unfortunately it's not possible.

The topic is from several versions ago (april 2014).
Seems solved.

Question was opposite:
Wanted Cross to STOP when receiving a call, so Cross can be used as 'only' media player.
When I posted the audio continued which was pretty annoying when talking/listening....
