Recommended optimization guide when performing live?

Postby Nathan Perrier on 11 Aug 2016, 08:31

I have the pro version of Cross DJ for my Android Moto X. I'm going to be playing live during a wedding ceremony and want to make sure that only the music is playing and nothing unexpected happens (such as an audio sound playing when receiving a text message).

Is there a general guide for optimizing the android phone for performing live?

There's no general guide. As 100s of different android versions exist it is very much depending on your installed version.

1. connect to a powersupply while live performing. If you use external devices, use a powered USB hub.

2. disable communication (wifi, 3G, 4G, etc)

3. Have your tracks analysed in advance

Be aware that removing SD card and/or external hdd instantly cause updates of the Android Mediabase which Cross uses as source database. Once mounted again all the tracks are instantly added...as new tracks...

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Also:

- To be sure to have all your tracks visible, re scan your device for tracks manually. To do this, go to Cross DJ, tap on one of the "+" buttons, then on the three-striped button in the top left-hand corner of the collection screen. In the menu that pops up, tap the "Folder explorer" option and then when you are on this page, tap the "Scan for files" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

- Some apps (for example cleaners, security apps as well as antivirus software) have background process could disturb Cross DJ. We've had reports of this problem with the Dolphin HD browser, the antivirus 360°as well as cleaner app Clean Master, but any app running processes in the background can affect the performance of Cross DJ. Uninstalling is not always needed. Sometimes it's enough to force "stop running" a specific app app in Android's parameters.
