Stereo to Mono Splitter not Working Properly

Postby sambatista on 29 Aug 2015, 17:24

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone had experienced the following problem:

I bought the full version of Cross DJ, and then purchased a stereo to mono splitter, as suggested in the FAQ. Now when I plug it in and change the setting in advanced settings to 'split', as instructed, it only plays out of one headphone and one speaker plus the sub on my 2.1 system.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Thanks!

BONUS QUESTION - anyone know any software that might let me scan the BPMs on my computer and then transfer them over. Reason being I have over 6,000 songs, so the time it will take to scan them all on my tablet is insane.

If you have a basic stereo to mono splitter then that's the cause. You need a DJ splitter. These copy the split mono so you have a right and left signal.

Regarding your bonus question... No use in determining bpm first. Cross will analyse it anyway. It's part of setting the beat grid.

Please be aware that Cross can handle 6k tracks but it is somewhat excessive to use so many. Half the amount already is a lot and will cover many gigs completely.

Hello, and thank you for the quick response.

Cool, I will look for a DJ splitter. Do you think that they are easy to find. I am lucky to have a fair bit of choice where I live (central London), so if I cannot find one in a normal shop, I can try in a specialist DJ store I know of a bit further away.

Would it be something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Master- ... B0056XAWOU

Thank you for also replying to the bonus question. I like to pre-analyse my collection so that, when practicing, I can just freeform along, starting from a low BPM and progressing upwards. So if they are not pre-analysed, I will not know which is best to put on next, to play in a vaguely BPM-increasing order.

I want to analyse my 6k tracks because, again, when practicing I like to use my whole collection together, as I find that this is how I come up with my most innovative and diverse mixes. This is how I do it when using my Mixtrack Pro + Traktor, on my Mac, and I find it is what works best for me. Then, when I need to, I'll throw together a playlist from what I've found works while free-forming.

Anyway, it's fine, I've decided to do my 'favourites' list first, which is about 1,500 tracks, and that is nearly done now. I'll do the rest bit by bit, whenever I have some free time to leave my tablet analysing.

Sorry for the essay, thanks again for replying.

Seems a good cable for a normal price.

Don't forget to slowdown in your mix... Peaks are just peaks when not being endless...

Also be aware that listening to 6000 tracks takes at least 18000 minutes for one time. If you listen like 8 hours a day it will take like 40 days... Likely the analysis takes less time..

Plenty of software around that will detect bpm and right it to the BPM tag in an MP3 file and/or allows you to have the bpm (and key for example) appear in either comment field or even in the file name, e.g. 128 - 09A - Title - Artist, 121 - 12B - Title - Artist.

The best (but not free) software in my opinion for this task is Platinum Notes.

As for the cable, that one should work. One of my personal favorites and always on my key chain is the UrbanEars Slussen:http://djworx.com/review-urbanears-slussen-adaptor-for-ipad-and-iphone/. To answer the question in the summary, yes, it does stay on your key ring for a long time.
