USB Connection Error

Hello! This is my first post to this very informative forum. I use Cross DJ Pro on my phone by itself with a DJ earphone splitter and it has been great. However I'd like to mix with more spread out control so I bought a Pioneer ddj-sb. Problem is, when I try to connect to my Galaxy s4, the app does not recognize the device. Note the photo, here is the set up:

- phone (represented by the case at the top) is connected to the OTG cable, male to male usb cable, into a powered hub. The sb controller is connected to the hub as well.
- phone is a US Tmobile m919 galaxy s4 w/ 4.4.4 firmware (rooted).
- phone previously had 4.3 jellybean, but I updated it thinking that might be the problem. Same result.
- ddj-sb has been upgraded to latest firmware.
- every cable and connector was isolated and tested.

IF I connect my wife's Galaxy S3 w/ updated 4.4.4 firmware, it connects with no problem. :frown:

Please help, I've run out of ideas why it won't work with my phone. Thanks Mixvibes dev team!!

Not to knowledgeable on this, nevertheless:
OTG is officially supported by Lollypop only. Earlier Android versions have various ways of implemented OTG features.
So it might be you that you need a (different) package (or whatever it's called) to support the right OTG at your rooted device.

Your connections seem OK.

Hope this sheds a light to a solution for you.

Okay I was able to fix this using an "OTG helper" app because my phone is rooted. I finally got it to work only to discover that the latency between the phone and the controller is pretty bad and frustrating to use. I've decided to purchase Serato DJ for the Pioneer controller and just use Cross DJ by itself when I'm on the go.

This is upsetting... I bought a ddj wego2 in hopes of using it with my HTC one (m7) which is on lollipop... I can't get it to recognize the controller either... Hello devs? Any assistance?

Do you use an OTG cable.
Do you use a powered USB hub.
Do you run normal OS or is it rooted.
Does the MIDI work.

The MIDI coming from the wego2? Works with Traktor on PC no issues.

If you have a rooted device you may not have otg installed.

Thanks. I assumed that USB Host Mode was enabled because I would get an "unable to charge in USB Host Mode" warning when I would use my OTG cable... But I ran an app called "USB Host Check" and sure enough it said that the handheld_core_hardware.xml File was not configured to allow USB Host Mode so I ran the fix and it reports that USB Host support if enabled now. I will test the connections to wego2 when I get home and report back.

Thanks again

Update -- I could not get it to ever work with my HTC One phone since the last time I posted. I have since upgraded to a new phone; The Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It's currently on Marshmallow and is stock rom.

I still cannot get it to work and with the current version of Cross DJ I noticed that there's no option for MIDI controller in the settings. I assume it's because it cannot detect a controller using OTG.

My only theory as to why I'm having all these problems is that my current OTG connector (3rd-party - purchased from Monoprice) may be faulty even though i can use it to transfer files no problem.

I have ordered and am waiting for an official Samsung OTG connector to arrive to see if this fixes the issue.

Update -- I have the official Samsung OTG connector (https://www.amazon.ca/Genuine-Adapter-C ... +connector) but it seems to make no difference. I cannot even get the app to recognize the WeGo2 when I plug it directly into the phone and not using a powered USB hub. The WeGo2 gets power from my phone's battery but doesn't do anything. I will have to try different cables and stuff I suppose.

I will try to record a youtube video of exactly what I am trying to do.
