Cross DJ: How to find music files on external SD; limit scan

Postby Definite Jiving on 02 Jan 2015, 01:57

Congratulations to Mixvibes for a great app. I have three questions:

1. When I first go to load tracks into the decks in Cross DJ, under the Folders tab I can't find my music folder on my external Micro SD Card anywhere in the folder list. All the folders are listed as containing no audio files. The tracks are there in the Genre, Album, and Artist tabs, and they are available to play, but I can't find them in the file menu.

How can I find the my_music folder I've created on the external SD card, and scan my files?

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, with Android 4.4.2 standard (unrooted).

2. Next, Cross DJ is reading tracks that I don't want to use for DJing, such as podcasts and other audio recordings. How can I hide these from the tabs and scans?

3. Finally, I'd like to be able to use a large-capacity external drive connected to the phone with an OTG (On-The-Go) USB cable. I haven't been able to get the app to read those folders. How do I achieve this?

Thanks!

Hi, Welcome to mixbibes.

The Cross DJ app uses the Mediabase as the source for available tracks.

Tracks on the SD card should be accessible. Try if you have to select 'mnt' (mount) folder as root of extSD.

External devices are not supported. Might be in future as Android Lollypop is the first OS officially supporting OTG. Many Android versions/devices support restricted ways of OTG only both by software as hardware implementations.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Thank you! I found my music folders deep in the "mnt" folder.

I hope future versions of Cross DJ make it possible to select or filter out certain files, to have only the list of wanted music tracks available. And true OTG connection would be great when it becomes available in the Android system.

Thanks for the help, and good luck with the app development.
