U-Mix Control Pro support through USB HUB

Postby BennyB on 09 Sep 2014, 21:44

Hi All,

I managed to make my U-Mix Control Pro work through USB hub.
This also solves my phone charging problems while mixing, if I use external power source.

TIP:
If you don't want to spend money on a proper power adapter, here is whatya do:

- If your HUB uses Mini USB (which will usually use, if the cable is not attached to the HUB by default), buy a split-end cable for it.
What this is, is that it has two USB-B plugs on one end, one for data, and one for additional power through a neightbour USB port if you plug it into a PC.
(You might look for it as "portable HDD" or "external HDD" USB cable)

- take your phone charger, and plug the power only end of this cable (on the picture above it's the plug on the left)
- Plug the other end into your phone's OTG cable.
- Plug the MiniUSB end into the HUB.

At this point you will have an external power source charging your phone, also powering the USB, which should turn on.

Now you need to connect the U-Mix Control Pro to the HUB, and turn it on. It should do it with the regular power-up LED show
If you start up Cross, now you should be able to use it without any kind of delay, plus the added comfort of limitless power

NOTE: your phone will heat up, so let some air to it, don't lay it down completely flat specially not onto your bed, or pillow.

 Cheers

This seems nice but using adapters and wiring that is not designed nor has the capacity will lead to overheating of adapters which will heat up wiring and by this the device.

A powered hub will usually be a more reliable solution.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).
