Problems with my Split mono(pre - cueing)

Postby rockwood24 on 10 Jan 2014, 04:54

I bought a Y cable for my headphones and speaker so i can pre cue while i mix in a track, but i can hear the track i'm mixing on the speaker. I wondering if its a Cross DJ problem or my wires that are causing this problem. Also I would press the headphone button in the Eq Screen and still it wont work. Also trying the crossfade and i can still hear the track i am mixing while the other track plays. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

John

Hi Rockwood,

When you enable the split option, you have two more knobs in settings :

Android ScreenShots_GalaxyS3 copie.png

Turn the knob "Mix" to the left :
- Master will be on the left ear
- Cue Prelisten will be on the right ear

In this config:

Left ear, you have the master , (so in this config the player B), and right ear the player A

Do you have issue even if you use this config?

Hi

I got the same problem. I am using Android version 1.1.1 and I have tried what you indicated in the post, but it did not worked.

Can you post a detailed manual or a video?

I'm afraid perhaps I have the wrong wire, but it's the one which have Y form.

Any ideas to solve this?

Thank you in advance

You might have a stereo splitter, which splits 0-Left-Right to both sides of the splitter.

You need a stereo-mono splitter that splits to 0-Left and 0-Right

And preferably a splitter that splits the Left resp. Right once more in each of the outputs, so you have the both outputs in stereo (being split mono).

To make it more 'simple': make sure you use the right plug in your splitter. If your plugs are stereo as well this will work. If however your headphone has a mono-plug (tip and pin, but no ring) e.g. GSM-headphones . This setup will not work as the split mono will go to tip and ring. The ring in your plug is missing, so the ring will go to the pin, which causes the pin to have (almost) the same 'sound' as tip. Unfortunately the 'sound' is the difference in voltage between the 0(=pin) and the tip (and ring). So you end up with no sound.

Sorry if it sounds somewhat complicated; if not I can add the text for splitting balance stereo.
Ronald

This splits from stereo to mono.

Problem is that you likely plugin a stereo plug of the headphone into a mono plug. It does not tell if it has a 'ring' in the mono. If not it will get 'sleeve' signal. If it has it will get no signal. Both situations result in one side of headphone working only. Same applies for the other side.

Send them a mail and tell them what you need;
male stereo split into 2*female mono-signal into a stereo plug, where both tip as ring get the same mono.
aka DJ splitter

Detwist - That Maplin cable won't work. I've already tried it.

Discopex - Have you tried either of those cables? They were both designed for iOS. The original cable I bought worked on my mate's iPad but not on my Samsung Tab. Hence I'm a touch sceptical...

Cheers,

GW

It doesn't matter which device since the technology is exactly similar, simple audio channel splitting which is not OS dependant. I've used a Griffin cable with iPad. ;)
