Cross DJ pro on iPad - How do i output audio from my iPad ?

PostPosted: 23 Mar 2018, 12:26

I've been using Cross hid on Pioneer cdj/djm 350 for years now and have to say it is an outstanding piece of software, so after treating myself to an iPad have now downloaded the Cross DJ pro app.

However, can the audio be output from the iPad just as my cdj set up can, i.e to my monitors as per the master out on dim 350, and split headphone cue/monitoring? Do i need a bespoke or special lead or plug??

Hope this makes sense !!

Hello,

It is possible to have a headphone monitor and master output with Cross DJ Pro, but you will need one of two devices.

The first is with an audio splitter cable. This will take the stereo signal and split it into two separate mono signals that are each duplicated on their own output. Then you can set Cross DJ to split output mode and have headphones connected to one out and your main speakers to another.

The second option is an iOS compatible sound card. These work with the various Apple lighting to USB adaptors and some even come with lightning cables so you don't need an adaptor. Also most of the compatible controllers also have iOS compatible sound cards built in.

Let me know if you need some more details or help getting things set up!

To avoid misunderstanding : you need a DJ splitter cable. Not a common stereo splitter cable.

Here's the info from our help page on the topic:

You can purchase a split cable in a store or via a website. For example: http://www.amazon.com/STEREO-3-5mm-PHONE-1-TIP-1-RING/dp/B000068O5E/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1436346301&sr=1-11&keywords=split+mono+cable

Make sure that what you have is a Stereo to Mono Splitter and not a DJ Split Mono cable.
– a Stereo to Mono Splitter sends the left channel on output 1 (duplicated on left and right) and the right channel on output 2 (duplicated on left and right).
– a DJ Split Mono cable is a 1 Stereo to 2 Stereo Splitter. This only duplicates the stereo signal on both outputs.

Sorry Adam, you mixed up the types.

A DJ splitter is the one that sends left(resp. right) to one plug and duplicating the mono to become 'stereo' output so you get L+R output for each of the plugs.

As the app (or program) sends cue to left (right) and main to right (left) this is the one the use.

A stereo to mono splitter only splits to the 'tip' of the jack, so you don't get signal to the ring (or if ring is missing it is sleeve which may cause noise on one (worse case on both) of the output sides).

The 'normal' stereo splitter only splits stereo in identical L/R signal for the 2 plugs.

this is a solid DJ cable

or one for your key ring
