Might be great if you can convince Apple to not make apps disfunctional by a new release.... Last August the previous fix was needed to have the software do the same job once more...
Just to be sure it might be nice if you can provide the OS versions and app versions of both devices you use, so this isn't the source of a misunderstanding.
Setting the network normally works easy, so if you haven't any blocking software in between it isn't likely much you can do right now. In Windows there is a little more chance something blocks access in the background then with Apple.
