Cross DJ Remote for iPad. question about pre-que.

Postby maxbaron on 02 Nov 2014, 20:10

Hi.

I downloaded the Cross DJ free version for my Mac to try it out.
I couldn't find any way to pre-que through my headphones even though I've got a multichannel soundcard which I can use to put the headphones through a different channel if the software has support for it.

Questions:

1. I guess that you need a controller to pre-que with the mac software only am I right?

2. From some preview pictures for Cross DJ remote http://www.mixvibes.com/products/cross-dj-remote-ipad i saw that the CrossDJ Remote has some headphone icons for both channels. And the link i provided has as one of the "features" that: "Preview playing of track before loading in player". Does this mean pre-queing?
Does this mean I can load up a track on the second deck, pre-que it through my head phones and it doesn't affect the mixer output?

Thanx for the info/ Max B

A limitation of the free version is not being able to preview. The remote doesn't overrule this.

Cross Demo has al features but for a limited period.

For preview/pre cue you need multiple channels. This can be one soundcard or multiple.

A controller is to send MIDI commands -or such- to control actions. Maany controllers also have a soundcard.

Cross can use multiple controllers in parallel.

Hope this info helps you in getting familiar.

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Ok, so I had a successful run with the demo version and my soundcard, they work well together. With the "dual stereo" settings my computer becomes a two-channel mixer which means I can pre-que and such. Now I hope the remote app works really well. So If pre-queing works with my mac it should work the same way with the remoteapp right?

I want to control Cross DJ remotely on My Mac since I can pre-que without buying any new hardware. E.g if i wanted to pre-que with the iPad Cross DJ app i would have to buy a split cable or that griffin DJ connect. Im thinking of buying griffin DJ connect anyway. But if im gonna DJ at home just for fun i wanna use the hardware i already have. And I wanna use the iPad Cross DJ remote app because i can't control the Cross DJ software on my Mac in a good way with My touchpad and keyboard, right? I feel that a touch app on iPad would be awesome to DJ with when I don't want to buy a controller.

A splitter cable has mono outputs. Yoi better get yourself a usb soundcard for like 10 $€ and use that as cue.

Not really sure but I think you need a second channel which is then send to iPad.

The touch interface is not a replacement of a physical controller.

It is meant as a way to add some distance in case you can't be near your PC.mac. it uses a wifi connection so has a little more latency as a controller.
