Windows Vista Tips

Postby Cactuss on 15 Dec 2008, 14:50

Hi everyone, just thought i should offer a few tips that helped me on my Dell 1525 inspiron laptop. I have mixvibes DVS 7, running on windows vista home premium. The sound duties are handled by an Esi Mixvibes u46mk2 sound card. The laptop has got integrated graphics sharing the system ram.

1. Upgrade the system Ram. Im running 3gb of Ram and it handles like a dream.

2. Turn off the windows sidebar

3. Close all non essential programmes in the task bar. Basically it should be any programmes you may not need while DJ'ing. In my case it was programmes like windows antispyware, yahoo messenger, open office quick starter, etc.

4. Turn off Windows Aero.

5. Set your screen saver to none.

6. Set your power scheme to Balanced: Offers full performance when you need it and saves power during periods of inactivity.

7. Set your mixvibes to low graphical priority.

8. Turn Off Bluetooth & Wireless Networking.

9. In my case on the Mixvibes screen, apart from the 2 decks, i only have the sampler and mediabase+playlists running.

10. Always upgrade to the most current version of mixvibes, as there will always be some improvements related to performance.

All the best
